2004 Members

Just prior to Conference there were 27 members of the Archives and Special Collections Roundtable. We recruited one new member at Conference. Roundtable membership is up by 3 from 2003. Our hope is to reach 30 members in 2005.

2004 Conference Program Report

The Archives and Special Collections Roundtable sponsored a panel discussion on hidden collections entitled "The Riddle Wrapped in the Enigma". Panelists included Rick Zender from Charleston College’s Communications Museum, Grace B. Cordial from Beaufort County Public Library System, Thomas Hobbs from USC-Aiken, and Sarah Willis from the PASCAL (Partnership Among South Carolina Academic Libraries). Rick Zender, Grace Cordial, and Thomas Hobbs each discussed their collections. Sarah Willis updated the group on PASCAL’s initiatives to identify special collections in South Carolina and future plans for providing web access to those collections. The program was attended by approximately 30 people and was well reviewed. Attendees indicated that they would be interested future programs on the basics of managing archives, preparing exhibits, and preserving materials, as well as an ongoing interest in digital collections and the PASCAL digitization initiative.

2004 Budget

While the Roundtable’s budget was only augmented by membership, no expenses were incurred. The year end budget line stands at $630.23.
