2006 Annual Conference

The Bibliographic Instruction Interest group co-sponsored with the Public Services section a program at the annual conference titled ““Did I Do That?: Body Language in Public Services”. This session was presented by Phyllis Fields, a Professor of Theater at Coker College, who focused on how body language can affect the perceptions of others.

The Bibliographic Instruction Interest group also sponsored two other programs at the annual conference.

Patricia Jordan and Vicki Gray from Spartanburg Technical College Library presented “Library Instruction in the Online World: Bringing BI to DL”. They discussed how their library developed an online component for their college’s distance learning courses.

Terrye Conroy, Stacy Etherdge, and David Lehmann from the Coleman Karesh Law Library at USC presented “Legal Research for Non-Law Librarians”. This program presented an overview of a workshop the presenters are developing in order to “promote public access to legal information in South Carolina by providing non-law librarians with information and resources to assist them in serving their patrons’ legal research needs”.

Turnout for the annual business meeting was small with only four attending. Officers elected for next year are Christina Stewart, Chair (Florence County Library), Elizabeth Caldwell, Vice-Chair (Florence County Library), and Jamie Ligas, Secretary (Coastal Carolina University).
