Committee Activities:
During 2006, the committee kept the SCLA Executive Board informed by forwarding e-mails from the ALA Washington Office Newsline to the SCLAEXECS listserv. The chair forwarded over one hundred emails regarding federal legislation and libraries to the SCLAEXECS listserv. The chair also served as Federal Relations Coordinator as well as South Carolina state coordinator for National Library Legislative Day.

This year, SCLA was one of the many sponsors for National Library Legislative Day (NLLD). Fourteen librarians from South Carolina traveled to Washington, DC to participate in the ALA National Legislative Day on May 1 and 2. These librarians visited the eight congressional offices and expressed their legislative concerns. The chair wrote an article chronicling this event for the July 2006 issue of the SCLA newsletter.

Camille McCutcheon is the only committee member whose term ends at the close of 2006.

Respectfully submitted,

Camille McCutcheon
Chair, Legislative Committee
