SCLA Membership Committee 2005 Annual Report

Letters of appeal for membership renewals and new members were mailed during the first quarter of the year. A postcard reminder was suggested by Gabrielle Barnes and was sent to former members who had not renewed in the second quarter. Letters of thanks along with membership cards were sent to new and renewing members. As of the October conference we had 502 members plus 16 renewals for 2006, which was slightly down from the previous year.

Only one other committee member was present at the annual retreat so we met only briefly. The committee corresponded via email in regards to an issue brought up the previous year in regards to a discrepancy in the membership information on the application form and in the handbook. The committee and board agreed that the handbook information was correct and the membership form was changed to comply with the handbook information.

Three vacancies on the committee were noted in the October 2005 association newsletter but no one volunteered.
